Distant-Relationship. Advice please?

My bf lives in USA whereas I in Uk. We are going to get engaged soon and I miss him so much. There are times I need to talk to him but I can't (like now) coz he is at work. He calls me every day for abput 30 minutes but then, that's it. When he has breaktime he calls me for 5-10 min. We see each other 3-4 days in three months. But now are going to see for 14 days in 3 months. I mean he is comuing to get engafed and is only staying for 3 days coz of job. He has asked me many times to move to the states but I am now studying , and there is noway I could be transferred. In addition, moe importantly my family is here. I have told him after I finish studying (After 3 years) I will be going there but if I dont like it the first year, I will come back immediately. He cant move to UK coz of his parents. They dont want to move here and he cant leave them alone. I am very sad sometimes just like now. I love him very much and want to ring him at work. But he will only talk to me about 2 min and u know...Sometimes I think I should concentrate a lot more in my studies and spend less time with him, but that will hurt. I dont know what to do. I dont even want to move to USA but have no choice. I am extremely close with my family. But I love him. Yesterday I lied to him and told him that I met another guy that I like, and he asked me ';What would happen in the future with u and that guy'; My answer ';I can not predict the future drove him mad.'; Then I told him it was a joke, cos it was..I love him so much but I miss him so much and I feel so sad . We do see each other in webcam..(by the way).. Any advice please. What would u do in my place?


I always ring his phone at work so I could talk to him for 2 min, but I am thinking not to ring him anymore, If he wants to talk to me, he can ring himself . He normally rings at 1 am. (But i wont pick the phone up from now on since I will be very tired 4 my lectures. I am so confused. Dont know what to do.. What would u do guys?

the worst thing is when you miss some one. if this is the guy you trurly love and you want to spend the rest of your lives together than all i can say is that you might need some more patience. (i know it sounds hard) maybe after your studeis you can go and live there.

he texts me all the time though...so im happy wit that...but he has a persistent ex over there who keeps phoning him...texting him...so im worried about that too....

Yes it is tough because I am also in one as well we do live in the same country but it takes 2-3 hours to travel there by train but we do keep in touch via texts and he wants me to move in with him I told him I would after I gt to know him a bit better. Its difficult when you cant see them when you want to or as often as you would like. You both really have to make it work otherwise it will fizzle out and you both might get hurt in the process.
I had the same problem and my guy only lived 200 miles away! I didn't want to leave my friends and family. I tried it for 6 mths and hated it. We stayed together for a couple of years afterwards, but it was pointless really. Neither of us wanted to move and the relationship was going nowhere. If you really don't want to move to the USA then I would call it quits now. There is no point stringing it out and hoping something changes.
